FCCU Receives Second Place National Award

12/09/2020

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) recently announced the 2020 recipients of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award. Of those recipients, was FCCU with a second-place national recognition for our outstanding social responsibility project. The award, which is given at several different asset levels, is selected at a league level or association level before being judged nationally.

“Congratulations to the 2020 CUNA Award winners who are being recognized for their commitment to their communities, particularly in a time when they’re needed most,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “We celebrate their efforts in social responsibility, the credit union philosophy and financial education.”

FCCU received recognition for their work with their quarterly fundraising for the North Dakota Impact Fund and Veterans, in 2019. During this time, FCCU raised over $10,000 for veterans, a record-breaking donation, and another $500 to Service Dogs for America.

In addition to a record donation, last year FCCU staff also raised money to send a local veteran in Jamestown, ND on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C., delivered Memorial Day baskets to local retired military and delivered 990 beautifully written letters for Operation Gratitude to current military members.

Susan Long Swen, FCCU Event and Community Engagement Specialist says “We’re proud to receive this national award for our work in our communities, all while helping our veterans." She continues, “We look forward to continually serving our communities and giving back, in the future.”
